About
Spencer Boyce

Spencer Boyce (he/him) is a theater artist based in Philadelphia who translates the world around us, and the infinite worlds inside our heads, onto the stage. Whether it be through directing, producing, writing, or performance, Spencer champions imagination as his biggest tool, and collaborating with other driven artists as his greatest joy.

Currently, Spencer serves as the Development Apprentice at Walnut Street Theatre, America’s oldest theatre and Philadelphia’s most popular theatre company.

His production company, Spencer Boyce Productions, launched in February 2025 under the name Disboyceable Productions. The company produces work by the next generation of theater artists, while keeping ticket prices low.

In December of 2025, Spencer wrote, directed, and performed his solo show, Impersonator. The show went in-depth into his childhood as an Elvis impersonator, asking the question, “Can you find yourself by being someone else?” The show is set to return to Philadelphia in 2026.

An avid improviser, Spencer has performed in shows like Objection! at Sidequest Theatre, as well as producing and directing his own improv shows, such as Opening Night! A Completely Improvised Play and Unscripted: The Improvised Musical.

Spencer attended the University of the Arts, where he was obtaining a BFA in Directing, Playwriting, and Production when the school tragically and abruptly closed after his sophomore year. While at UArts, Spencer worked on several productions, including Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 (Assistant Director), someone (else) (Stage Manager), and the 2024 Equinox New Play Festival (Artistic Producer). Spencer continued his studies and graduated from Temple University in December 2025, earning his BA in Theater with a concentration in Directing.

Back in his hometown Saratoga Springs, NY, Spencer has done extensive work with Spa City Theater and Saratoga Children’s Theater including The Spongebob Musical (Director), Hadestown: Teen Edition (Director), Beetlejuice Jr. (Director/Choreographer), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Co-Director), Xanadu (Assistant Director), Little Women (Assistant Director), My Son Pinocchio Jr. (Director), Alice By Heart (Angus/Caterpillar/Mock Turtle), Theory of Relativity, (Paul/Anthony), and several others. He will serve as their Summer Camp Director for the 2026 season, and is excited to direct their production of Rock of Ages.

In 2022, Spencer was the recipient of the Best Actor award for his performance as The Baker in Into the Woods at The High School Musical Theater Awards at Proctors. This led him to a nomination at The Jimmy Awards in New York City, where he was given the opportunity to train with several industry professionals and perform at the iconic Minskoff Theatre on Broadway.
